To all Owners and Residents
From the Board of Directors
Re: Traffic Rules, Traffic Safety
The board has received many reports of violations of our posted traffic signs and our traffic rules. Some of these reported violations resulted in one accident and other “near miss” accident situations. While some of the reported violations were by visitors and vendors, regretfully, most of them involved our owners and residents.
The three most common reported traffic violations were speeding, failing to come to a full stop at stop signs and “cutting the corner” when exiting the property directly in front of the clubhouse.
As we all know, our association by-laws direct the board to enact and enforce the traffic rules in Crescent Village. The board does not take these responsibilities lightly. We all know that one serious injury or death would be a nasty wake up call for all of us.
A traffic accident on Crescent Village streets is legally treated as an accident on City of Shelton streets. Drivers and pedestrians must rely on their own personal insurance policies to cover the financial and legal consequences of an accident. City of Shelton police and emergency vehicles will be the first responders.
Also please note that, just as the City of Shelton has the authority to impose fines on persons who ignore its traffic signs and rules, Crescent Village has the same authority to impose fines on owners and residents who do not follow its traffic rules. Just so that you know, it only takes about 90 seconds to drive from the entrance of Crescent Village to the most distant home on our property while obeying all posted traffic signs.
Please use our streets carefully. As the old saying goes, “The life you save may be your own.”
